Broadway will come to Sun Valley on Monday when Freestyle Love Supreme+ takes the stage at the Sun Valley Pavilion, courtesy of the Sun Valley Writers Conference.
The improvisational comedy group was co-created in the early 2000s by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who created the Broadway musicals “Hamilton” and “In the Heights.” And it will offer on-the-spot musical takes with active participation and prompts from the audience.
The original freestyle rap trio group has given sold-out performances on Broadway and won a 2020 Tony Award. It received a Grammy nomination for the Hulu documentary “We are Freestyle Love Supreme.”
It gets its name from John Coltrane’s 1964 free jazz album “A Love Supreme.
This particular production features Aneesa Folds, aka Young Nees; Joshua Ellis, aka JEllis; Andrew Bancroft, aka Jelly Donut, and Kaila Mullady, aka Kaiser Roze.
The group will perform at 3:30 p.m. Monday, July 18, at the Sun Valley Pavilion. Tickets are $35 at https://svwc.com/single-event-tickets.
The Sun Valley Writers Conference is also offering free viewing on the Pavilion lawn.
