There are 33,000 daffodil bulbs waiting to be planted at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden. And adults and youth are welcome to help plug ‘em in the ground.
Volunteers are invited to pitch in Thursday and Friday, Oct. 21 and 22. The planting will start at 9 a.m. and continue all day. Volunteers are asked to bring garden trowels, if they have one.
The daffodils will be the star of the show in the inaugural Daffodil Festival planned for April 2022. The festival, inspired by a daffodil festival in Puyallup, Wash., will be a benefit for The Senior Connection and Sawtooth Botanical Garden.
Plans are to expand the daffodil planting the following year and, at some point, add more daffodil plantings up and down the Wood River Valley, according to Marty Lyon, who has helped spearhead the effort.
