Efforts are underway to bring back Nightmare on Main Street after a year’s hiatus due to the pandemic.
The mostly adult version of Halloween fun has long been a staple of the community with prizes for some pretty zany and creative costumes both for individuals and groups.
The 2019 Nightmare on Main Street, for instance, featured a spoof on the “MarriNOT Hotel in a costume that fit eight people. Other revelers dressed up as Chewbacca, Humpty Dumpty, the characters from “Toy Story” and even Mr. Banks and Mary Poppins.
A Hazmat suit with a skull for a face won Scariest—no one realizing how that fantasy would become real just months later.
Patti Romano, owner of The Casino, is working with the city to close Main Street Ketchum for the event. And a GoFundMe account has been set up to raise money for stage rental, sound system, a DJ, security and firewood for the fire pits.
"To put on the party, we need support," said fundraiser organizer Meghan Hockemeyer.
GoFundMe spokesperson Jeff Platt said donors can access the GoFundMe account at https://gf.me/v/c/8vzj/save-ketchums-nightmare-on-main-street
