The new Quigley Trails Park in Hailey will host its first Pump Track Challenge for youngsters on Thursday, July 29.
The event will be held for upcoming first- through eighth-graders from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 29, at the park in Quigley Canyon.
The BCRD pump track is a continuous circuit of rollers, berms, and jumps that loop back on themselves. The goal is to ride the track using the features on the ground to gain speed without pedaling.
Pump Track Challenge participants will follow an outlined course, competing against kids in their age bracket. Children in 1st – 4th grade may pedal the entire course, while children in 5th – 8th grade may only pedal to a cutoff point and then must “pump” the rest of the course.
Preliminary ride times are 5:00 – 5:45 PM for 1st and 2nd graders (coed), 5:45 – 6:30 PM for 3rd and 4th graders (coed), 6:30 – 7:15 PM for 5th and 6th graders (split by gender), and 7:15 – 8:00 PM for 7th and 8th graders (split by gender).
Award ceremonies will follow the completion of each age group. Participants should arrive at least 30 minutes before their age group is scheduled to ride to accommodate schedule changes.
Registration fee is $12. It includes a participation award and a complimentary taco from KBs food truck. Food from KBs will also be available for purchase
