Youth are being sought to work on trails in the East Fork/Little Wood area of the Sawtooth National Forest and Mattingly Creek in the Sawtooth Wilderness this summer.
They also have the opportunity to participate in trail work further afield, including Johnson Saddle in the Gospel Hump Wilderness near Grangeville, Copper Creek and Paradise Creek in the Rapid River area near Riggins, Loon Creek in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness north of Challis and Emerald Lake in the Hells Canyon Wilderness.
Idaho Trails Association is looking for youth ages 14 through 18 to be part of those week-long trail stewardship projects.
The Youth Trail Crew Program provides opportunities for youngsters to learn about the outdoors while building and maintaining hiking trails. They will be led by crew leaders who share a passion for the outdoors and Idaho’s public lands.
Participation is free, thanks to grants and donations from ITA’s members, and includes meals and opportunities to enjoy one another’s company around a campfire at night.
