Got a pot?
Don’t throw it away!
The Hailey Grange is having a garden pot recycling campaign this week.
“Last summer I recuperated over 500 pots from dumpsters and garbage cans,” said Manon Gaudreau, co-chair of the Wood River Seed Library and a Master Gardener. “I wish people would give us their unwanted pots rather than trashing them. We reuse the pots and cardboard egg cartons for free Sprout Kits, which we give to local families and local gardeners. We even like to recycle the potting soil and compost the dying plants in these trashed pots.”
Gaudreau said she and fellow gardening partners would be happy to pick up large quantities of pots or heavy large pots. Landscapers and florists are also invited to make arrangements to recycle their pots by contacting woodriverseedlibrary@gmail.com or texting 208-720-7207.
Ideally pots should be rinsed clean, unless filled with potting soil. They can be delivered to the Grange, 609 S. 3rd Ave. in Hailey or to the Building Material Thrift Store, 213 N. Main St. in Bellevue. Smaller pots can also be taken to the lobby of the Wood River Community YMCA, 101 Saddle Road, in Ketchum.
SEED EXCHANGE ON SATURDAY
The Wood River Seed Library will host a Seed and Plant Exchange from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 24, at the Grange Hall in Hailey.
