Start New Year Off By Getting Strong

Sunday, December 31, 2023

Core and upper body strength is essential to winter sports like skiing. In today’s Eye on Sun Valley video, Emily Knowles of PeakFit in Hailey shows you how to increase your strength via three exercises that target not your chest, as pushups do, but your back, helping to keep those muscles strong.

PeakFit’s efforts to keep Wood River Valley residents strong dovetails with recent proclamations by Wood River Valley mayors designating the week beginning with New Years Day as Community Health and Fitness Week.

Ketchum Mayor Neil Bradshaw, for instance, noted that it is imperative for civic leaders to champion efforts aimed at promoting the well-being of residents: “Whereas the advent of the New Year traditionally symbolizes a fresh start for many individuals…Ketchum encourages all residents to explore the various opportunities available for health enhancement and fitness programs,” he said. “May the Community Health and Fitness Week of 2024 inspire us all to embrace healthier lifestyles, paving the way for a year filled with vitality, resilience and well-being.”
