More than 600 ski patrol, firefighters and other first responders descended on Sun Valley Resort this past month to take part in the annual Saint Alphonsus Ski & Mountain Trauma Conference.
They learned how to improvise splints from things they might find in the backcountry. They took part in a mass casualty drill focusing on saving people’s lives. And they even learned how to elevate their personal fitness training because, as the trainer said, “You have to be as fit as a professional athlete when you’re rushing to the aid of someone in the backcountry.” Learn more about the much-needed efforts to train rural first responders in today’s Eye on Sun Valley video.
