Don your best Norwegian sweaters and knickerbockers for the Galena Inga Loppet and Poker Run on Sunday.
Galena Lodge will host the event—a combination of the annual Galena Loppet and the periodic Inga Lami—at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 17.
The event is free.
Participants are invited to ski part of or all of the 25-kilometers around the permit of Galena’s Nordic trails. Costumes are encouraged, especially Norwegian garb, in keeping with the Norwegian Inga Lami, which is the sister race to the Norwegian Birkebeiner
Margaritas and doughnuts will be stashed along the course.
On Sunday, March 31, Galena Lodge will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt at 10:30 a.m. at the base of Gladiator ski trail. All kids ages 10 and under are welcome to participate in the free event; bring your own basket.
On Sunday, April 7—closing day at Galena Lodge—the Ride Stride Glide winter triathlon will be held. Participants are invited to form teams of three or go solo for the fun, relay-style race.
The race will involve a 9-kilometer bike ride on the Nordic trails, a 4.4-kilometer run and a 9-kilometer ski.
There will be a kids and youth short course, as well, and costumes are encouraged.
With temperatures climbing into the mid-50s in the next few days and winter coming to an end, Galena Lodge has all of its winter apparel, including jackets, pants, gloves, beanies, and socks, on sale. Used gear, including snowshoes, skat boots, classic boots and classic skis, will also be on sale.
