John Steinbeck’s classic story of a poor Oklahoma family that moves to California after losing their farm during the Great Depression will be shown on screen at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at Hailey Town Center West.

The movie, based on the 1939 Pulitzer Prize winning novel, stars Henry Fonda and was directed by John Ford.

The screening is free and popcorn will be provided.

“Because of our licensing contract, we can’t reveal the actual titles or names of characters of films we’re featuring in this series,” said Kristin Fletcher, the library’s programs manager. “But we’re confident that movie lovers will piece together clues and join us to watch some of the most acclaimed films ever created.”

The library will continue its monthly movie screenings in April with a flick featuring Fred Astaire getting wet while showing off his famous dance steps. A romantic comedy featuring Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn will follow, with the series concluding for the summer with an iconic Marx Brothers comedy.
