Tibetan Buddhist teacher Anam Thubten will teach how to develop the three aspects of meditation  during a talk opened to the community on Thursday, March 14.

The talk will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Ketchum. Suggested donation is $15 but no one will be turned away if they don’t have the money.

There are three important aspects of meditation: Mindful attention, open awareness and lovingkindness, said Mary Ann Chubb, who is among those facilitating Thubten’s visit. By practicing these, we can let go of negative mental patterns and expand our heart and mind, bringing about joy, peace and inner freedom, she said.

“Anam Thubten will teach and guide participants in developing these three aspects of meditation and share Buddhist wisdom on working with our thoughts and emotions,” she added

Anam Thubten grew up in Tibet and at an early age began to practice in the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. He is the founder and spiritual advisor of the Dharmata Foundation located in the Bay area of California.

The nonprofit Dharmata Foundation that he formed in 2005 serves as a container for spiritual community following the pathless path through the essential teachings of Buddha and the lineage of great Buddhist masters

He teaches widely in the US and abroad. He is also the author of various articles and books in both the Tibetan and English language. Among them: Choosing Compassion, No Self No Problem, Into the Haunted Ground and The Citadel of Awareness.

His guided meditations on youtube include “Melting into Love” and “Beyond Division.”

He is extremely fluent in English and he brings alive the timeless teachings and essential wisdom of Buddhism through his own personal experience on the spiritual path.
