The second annual Muffy Davis Cup will test the skills of skiers and snowboarders in ways they’ve likely never been tested before on Sunday, March 10.

The experiential fundraiser named after Sun Valley Paralympic medalist Muffy Davis will challenge skiers and boarders to try adaptive skiing, all while raising funds for Higher Ground’s adaptive winter programming.

Davis, now a Blaine County commissioner, will be on hand throughout the weekend’s events.

The event kicks off with a cocktail party, live auction and rockin’ concert featuring the Honey Island Swamp Band at Whiskey’s on Saturday, March 9.

On Sunday eight teams led by various sponsors will trade their regular skis and snowboard gear for adaptive equipment. With the help of Higher Ground’ instructors, the racers wil llearn how to use monoskis, outriggers and other equipment.

They then will compete in a sit-ski, ski bike, 3-track/4-track equipment or navigate the slopes wearing goggles that offer varying levels of blindness. Each team will be led by a celebrity racer.

Awards will be given for the fastest time, best costumes and most spectacular wipeout.

An Apres Ski gathering at Carol’s Dollar Mountain Lodge will follow the race and awards ceremony.

Higher Ground provides therapeutic recreation for wounded warriors, first responders, challenged youth and others. In addition to ski camps, it offers hand cycling, fly fishing, horseback riding, kayaking and other activities.
