Hundreds of bowls have been made. But they’re sitting around empty.
It’s up to you to pick one up and fill it with your choice of amazing soups and salads, along with bread and cookies.
The Hunger Coalition is staging its 9th Annual Empty Bowls event from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at the Presbyterian Church of the Big Wood at 100 Saddle Road across from the Wood River Community YMCA in Ketchum.
Bowls made by community members are available for 20 each--$10 for children 10 and under. And the money will go to The Hunger Coalition.
Boulder Mountain Clayworks staff and volunteers have made more than 300 hand-crafted and hand-painted bowls.
Local restaurants and caters are providing the foodstuff to fill them.
They include Atkinsons’ Markets, Big Belly Deli, CK’s Real Food, The Grill at Knob Hill, Hangar Bread, Mahoney’s Bar & Grill, Nourish Me, Rasberry’s, Sun Valley Company, Warfield and Bigwood Bread.
Empty Bowls is a great way to give back to the community over the shared joy of a good meal, said Jeanne Liston, executive director of The Hunger Coalition: “This event raises critical funds that go directly towards the purchase of healthy food for local families.”
