Celebrate Mother’s Day and what we hope is, finally, spring at the Wood River Valley Daffodil (&Art!) Festival on Saturday.

The Sawtooth Botanical Garden is hosting the third annual Daffodil Festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the 5-acre Sawtooth Botanical Garden at Highway 75 and Gimlet Road.

Some 30,000 daffodil bulbs planted in the garden in 2021 have burst through the soil, thumbing their noses at this past week’s unsettled weather. And temperatures projected to be near 70 beckon as attendees enjoy mimosas, live music and a selection of brunch fair.

While there, people will have a chance to explore the five major gardens representing the five biomes of south-central Idaho—the Sagebrush Steppe, Lava, Alpine, Montane and Riparian gardens. The garden also boasts 14 world-class art sculptures, a Pet Memorial Garden and a Serenity Garden.

Kids are always wowed by the Sawtooth Sandbox and the creek running through the property, complete with damselflies and other critters. And the Greenhouse offers a warm look at the garden’s limes and other hothouse plants, while the Garden of Infinite Compassion offers a place for quiet reflection.

Saturday’s event costs $30 per person; seniors, moms and children under 17 will be admitted free. Tickets are available at https://www.sbgarden.org/events/daffodil-festival-2sxps

Follow Saturday’s festivities with a Mother’s Day Mimosa & Paint outing at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, May 12.

Attendees can create Mother’s Day masterpieces while enjoying mimosas in the garden. Tickets are $65 and include painting materials and a choice of mimosas. For tickets, visit https://checkout.square.site/buy/XPN5DRTQRSJC5H2XH6S4ED62

SIP & SHOP TO BENEFIT THE GARDEN

J.McLaughlin dress shop will hold a Sip & Shop from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, May 10, to celebrate the Sawtooth Botanical Garden’s annual Daffodil Festival.

Store manager Sarah Howe says the store has a fabulous May Collection and 15 percent of all sales between noon and 4 p.m. Friday will benefit the Sawtooth Botanical Garden, and Howe and her smiling cohorts will be handing out daffodils to customers, courtesy of the Sawtooth Botanical Garden.

The shop is located at 520 E. 4th St. in Ketchum near Atkinsons’ Market.
