Memorial Day Weekend in Sun Valley will include a variety of activities from a stargazing party to free putting on Sun Valley Golf Course.

The weekend will kick off on Friday, May 25, with guided hikes on the White Clouds loop beginning at 2 p.m., the spider jump from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Monday on the Sun Valley Pavilion Lawn and ice skating from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sun Valley’s Outdoor Ice Rink.

Guests staying at the Sun Valley Lodge or Inn can also hit the free “Dive-in” kids’ movie at the Sun Valley Lodge pool at 7:30 p.m. that night.

Saturday and Sunday families can test their putting skills free of charge from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sun Valley Golf Course. The kids train will run from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Sun Valley Village both days, as well.

A multi-media concert charting more than 200 years of history titled “Romancing the West,” will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Sun Valley Opera House. Tickets are $22, available online at www.sunvalley.com and at the Sun Valley Guest Information Center in the Village.

The performance will be followed by a look at spring constellation from 10 to 11 p.m. on the Sun Valley Pavilion Lawn. The host of “From the Bear to the Lion” will be Tim Frazier, president  of the Magic Valley Astronomical Society.

Sunday will feature brunch at the Konditorei,  followed by kite flying with the staff of Pete Lane’s Mountain Sports on the Sun Valley Pavilion Lawn starting at 3 p.m. Cosmic bowling at the Sun Valley Bowling Alley in the Lodge rolls from 3 to 10 p.m. with a discounted price of $40 per hour for up to six people per lane.

And at 8 p.m. cowboy poet Butch Martin, who is part of the “Romancing the West” show, will tell campfire tales around the Sun Valley Inn fire pit. Yer can rustle up some free s’mores while there!

Finish the Memorial Day Weekend off with free putting at the Sun Valley Golf Course, a fling on the spider jump, ice skating and cosmic bowling on Monday.

FUN PASS IS BACK; SO IS SEASON PASS

The Sun Valley Spring Fun Pass, which was introduced last year, is back. The pass, which costs $20, entitles holders to ice skating, bowling and a movie. They’re available at the Sun Valley Guest Information Center.

While there, don’t forget that you can get the best price of the season on your 2018-19 Winter Season ski pass if bought before June 1.

Installment plans start as low as $59, and the passes are available online at www.sunvalley.com and at the Sun Valley Guest Information Center. They also may be purchased at the River Run Day Lodge at the base of Bald Mountain from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday through Thursday, May 31.
