BY MICHAEL DAVID

Henry Pollack turned in a heroic effort on Senior Night. But, still, the Community School Cutthroats lost an overtime thriller to the Twin Falls Christian Warriors. When the buzzer sounded, the Warriors were on top 47-42 Thursday at Cutthroat Hall.

Pollack came out of the gates on fire, hitting three straight 3-pointers on his way to 21 first-half points.

The Warriors hit a bunch of threes of their own to keep the contest close and trailed by only one at the end of the first quarter.  Pollack was hot in the second and the Cutthroats extended their lead to 25-17 at the halftime break.

The Cutthroats cooled down in the third, allowing the visitors from Twin to sneak back into the game.  The Warriors outscored Community School 11-5 in the period and trailed by two points entering the final stanza.

The teams battled back and forth in the fourth quarter, the lead changing hands seven times. The Cutthroats second senior Walter Lafky grabbed an offensive rebound and laid it in to put the home team ahead 38-37 with nine seconds left to play.

The Warriors drove to the hoop and drew a foul. And Kevin Wiest hit one of two free throws to force overtime.

Twin Falls Christian had a little more fuel in their tank in the extra period, hitting their free throws down the stretch to defeat the Cutthroats, much to the disappointment of the packed crowd in Sun Valley.

Pollack finished the contest with 29 points to lead all scorers, wrapping up his fine regular season career at home for the Community School Cutthroats.
