Hispanic Heritage Celebrations Fill Up the Week

The 4th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month gets underway tonight with festivities at the Hailey Public Library, and it will continue through Saturday, Sept. 25, with activities at Itty Bitty Farms in Carey.

In between will be the LatinaX Festival at Roberta McKercher Park on Saturday.

The events:

  • Friday, Sept. 17, 5:30-7:30 p.m. The Hailey Public Library will be Ground Zero for a celebration that includes a free Zumba class at 6:30 p.m. and a dance demonstration at 7 p.m. In between will be pinatas, activities for youngsters, live music and free appetizers and beverages provided by local Hispanic restaurants.
  • 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18. The free Hispanic LatinaX Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Roberta McKercher Park in Hailey.
  • 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22. A Hispanic Latin Leadership roundtable conversation featuring Margie Gonzalez of the Idaho Commission on Hispanic Affairs will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the old Copy & Print building in Hailey.
  • 4:30-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23. UNIDOS Together will feature Sri Preethaji of the former Oneness University sharing wisdom and encouragement for Latin families in the grassy area between the Community Campus and Wood River High School.
  • 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25. The week-long celebration will conclude with live performances, cultural activities, free food and games and recognitions at Itty Bitty Farms, 20444 N. Main St., Carey.
