At least three fire engines are on the scene of a brush fire on Blackfoot Drive in Indian Creek. Air support and The Bureau of Land Management is on their way, and Indian Creek has been closed to non-residents at Buttercup Road. Marty Lyon said he first noticed the fire about 12:15 p.m. It has moved to the north about a quarter of a mile in the past half-hour, fueled by 10 mile per hour winds.
"I now see another fire out of control about a quarter mile or a bit more from the first," he added.
The fire is west/southwest from his home on Red Cloud and west of Indian Creek Road.
UPDATE:
More than 40 firefighters, including those from the BLM and U.S. Forest Service in Twin Falls, contained it in six hours. At the same time, Hailey Fire had to fight another wildland fire along Gannett Road and Wood River Fire and Rescue extinguished a small, unauthorized burn south of Bellevue.
An unattended campfire got out of control a week earlier in Quigley Canyon.
