Luke’s Pharmacy is participating in a new program taking COVID-19 vaccines to those who are homebound.
The program affects about 800 residents in Blaine and other counties served by South Central Public Health District. Many of these residents face health complications that place them at high risk for severe cases of COVID-19, but they are unable to travel to an appointment without help.
SCPHD and the College of Southern Idaho’s Office on Aging spent weeks identifying these residents and connecting them with community providers who offer transportation at no cost. Now, mobile providers are set to take vaccine doses to those who cannot leave home.
Luke’s Pharmacy will be joined by the Magic Valley Paramedic Community Health Emergency Medical Services, Minidoka Memorial Hospital CHEMS unit and Shoshone Family Medical Center in the effort.
Those who are homebound and qualify for a COVID-19 vaccine are urged to call the SCPHD COVID-19 hotline at 208-737-1138 or the CSI Office on Aging at 208-736-2122 to schedule an appointment.
