The philanthropic group 100 Men Who Care will hold its first meeting of 2020 on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Ketchum’s Community Library.
Attendees are invited to nominate a local nonprofit, then be prepared to discuss that organization’s operating budget and the services it provides.
“We should all be proud of our impacts to local nonprofits,” said Marty Lyon, who founded the organization in 2013. “They are all more effective in serving our community due to the support of 100 Men Who Care.”
Those who cannot attend are invited to send a check of $100 to Marty Lyon at 106 Red Cloud Way, Hailey, ID 83333. Checks will be given to the nonprofit chosen at the Jan. 7 meeting.
100 Men Who Care meets four times a year to nominate and vote on charities. The pooled checks are given to the winning charity.
The men, who have been averaging more than a hundred during the past few years, awarded a grant to PROJECT.O.O.L.S. at their last meeting in October. PROJECT.O.O.L.S. serves the community under the umbrella of the Flourish Foundation. The organization’s founder Herbert Romero will give a short presentation about how that money was used at next week’s meeting.
The men gave about $45,000 to four organizations, including The Senior Connection and I Have a Dream Foundation, during the past year alone.
