Get your winter stoke on with rippers from Arlberg to the Matterhorn when Warren Miller’s “Timeless” launches the 2019-20 ski season at Sun Valley Resort.
Warren Miller’s latest film will be shown at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, and 4:30 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Sun Valley Opera House.
Tickets are $16 in advance and $18 the day of the show, available at www.sunvalley.com.
Warren Miller’s films have been the lead-in to winter for the United States’ 11.5 million skiers and snowboarders since 1949. While ski clothes and gear have taken on a new look over those seven decades, the passion surrounding the lure of powder has remained the same.
This year’s film takes viewers from the mountains of British Columbia, across the steeps of the Colorado Rockies to the rooftop of the European Alps.
Along for the ride are Jackson Hole’s 2019 Queen of Corbet’s Caite Zeliff, Olympic mogul skier Jaelin Kauf, Baker Boyd, Connery Lundin, Austin Ross and Canadian World Cup ski racer Erin Mielzynski.
Also, industry veterans like Rob DesLauriers, Lorraine Huber, Tyler Ceccanti, Marcus Caston, Amie Engerbretson, Forrest Jillson and Glen Plake, whose segment alone is worth the price of admission.
One segment features former U.S. Open Halfpipe champ Rob Kingwill joining two Alaskan natives in the Swiss Alps. Another tackles the San Juan Mountains in Colorado, which get 400 inches of snow each winter—when Mother Nature is behaving herself.
