100 Men Who Care, which has grown to 100-plus Men Who Care in the past year, will meet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at Ketchum’s Community Library.
Each attendee who has participated for at least one year may nominate a nonprofit to receive the pot. Be prepared to share pertinent information about the nominee and reasons why it should be selected.
The men voted to give an $11,050 check to KDPI Radio at their July meeting.
The station at 88.5 FM on the radio dial is a locally managed community radio station. The station was able to hire its first full-time general manager—Dayle Ohlau--with this funding. Ohlau has 35 years of broadcast communications experience with television and radio roles in Chicago, San Diego and other locations. She is currently writing her PhD dissertation in compassionate communications.
“With continued corporate consolidation of newspapers and local media operations, community radio stations are now the modern-day town squares,” she said.
100 Men Who Care has given away $180,800 since its inception.
Those involved write out a $100 check at each of the quarterly get-togethers with the pooled pot going towards the nonprofit that receives the most votes that particular evening.
Those who wish to give but cannot make the meeting can send their check to Marty Lyon at 106 Red Cloud Way, Hailey, ID 83333.
