Rebecca’s Private Idaho is expected to bring as many as 1,200 bicyclists to Sun Valley to test themselves Sunday on the gravel and dirt roads atop Trail Creek Summit.
But the weekend is not all about racing.
Cox Communications has teamed up with Rebecca’s Private Idaho for a Community Bike Build to gift new mountain bikes to children in need in the Wood River Valley.
Teams representing local businesses will compete in a high-energy competition at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, at Festival Meadows on Sun Valley Road.
The object, of course, is to see who can assemble their bike the fastest. But no matter who wins the competition, it’s the children who win in the long run.
The participating teams represent Cox Communications, Bellevue Elementary, Ketchum Professional Firefighters, Wood River Community YMCA, Sturtevant’s Bike Shop, Wood River High School Mountain Bike Team, Mountain Rides, Syringa Mountain School and Limelight Hotel.
Cox Communications is the largest private telecom company in America, serving six million homes and businesses in 18 states. It’s the largest division of Cox Enterprises, a family-owned business founded in 1898 by Gov. James M. Cox.
