Is your dog faster than a speeding bullet? Can he fly through the air like a locomotive?
If so, you’ll want to head to the DockDogs competition being held Friday and Saturday, July 5-6, in Ketchum.
Is your dog a couch potato? Get him off the couch and bring him to be inspired by the high-flying, long-jumping canines in his midst.
The City of Ketchum is bringing back the DockDogs competition on the afternoon of Friday and all day on Saturday.
The competition will take place on Washington Street between the Limelight Hotel and Forest Service Park. And Tylor and the Train Robbers will perform in Forest Service Park as the event winds down on Saturday.
DockDogs is an independent governing and sanctioning organization for the growing sport of canine dock jumping and other canine performance sports. The World championships held each year in October draws thousands of spectators.
Today there are 80,000 dogs jumping across the United States and many more in countries like Canada and Australia.
The competition is especially made for those dogs who will go to the ends of the earth to get their toy. A whippet, known as a poor man’s racehorse, holds the world record long jump at 31 feet.
Last year’s competition in Ketchum attracted pros from outside Idaho and local amateurs alike.
