Eric Lindell to Perform Free Concert

BY KAREN BOSSICK

American singer/songwriter Eric Lindell will present a free concert from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, at Ketchum Town Square.

The concert is being presented by Sun Valley Records and Sun Valley Magazine to create a music experience over the Fourth of July week. Food and beer will be available for purchase from Sawtooth Brewery and the Wood River Sustainability Center.

Lindell is a New Orleans-based artist who performs blues, rock, and swampy Gulf Coast R&B  soul in a raspy, soulful voice.

His “Change in the Weather” album debuted in 2006, earning him regular radio rotation and critical praise.

His subsequent “Revolution in your Heart” features Lindell playing everything on the recording—guitar, bass, keyboards, organ, harmonica—except for drums. Its original songs--many of them autobiographical--paint vivid pictures of day-to-day living from “Grandpa Jim” to “Kelly Ridge.”

He’s had The Neville Brothers show up at his gigs, as well as artists like Branford Marsalis, who will perform at the Sun Valley Music Festival’s gala concert in August.

Sun Valley Records is a relatively new company, created by Don Zimmer and Elizabeth Hendrix to support individual artists and bands via a variety of modes. It organized the Ramblin’ Jack Elliott concert at the Sun Valley Opera House this past winter and recorded the “Keepin’ It Home” CD that featured 22 artists to raise $10,000 for The Community Library.

Sun Valley Magazine is the valley’s longest running magazine production, celebrating the best of Sun Valley life for more than 44 years. Its publications are sold in more than 400 locations nationwide, including the Boise Airport and Salt Lake International Airport.
