The people of the Wood River Valley recently got back their right to recycle. But with limitations.
And those limitations apparently are causing confusion.
Narda Pitkethly says she runs into people every day who are confused about the new paper recycling guidelines. And, she fears, if valley residents don’t follow them, we’ll lose our right to recycle again.
The rules are simple:
- We CAN recycle newspapers with grocery store inserts BUT NO GLOSSY INSERTS.
- We CAN recycle office paper. Even colored paper is okay. BUT NO GLOSSY STUFF, please.
- Don’t even think of recycling anything sticky like sticky notes or envelopes.
- NO PAPERBOARD, only office paper!
- And NO adding machine paper or thin paper like grocery store receipts.
Got it?!
“We need to make this pure now or it will be taken away from us,” said Pitkethly. “When it’s pure, we at least get to recycle newspapers and office paper, which may not seem like a lot to some people. But it’s huge, really. when in doubt, throw it out!”
