Warm Springs Road remains closed to non-residents today past Penny Lake after two large avalanches swept over two homes on Whipsaw Lane approximately one mile west of Penny Lake.School buses are being let through.

The two homes sustained major damage but no one was inside.

The first avalanche occurred in mid-afternoon Monday, April 8. The second about 6:45 p.m.

The county is under a county wide avalanche warning with residents being asked to be aware and voluntarily evacuate if they feel they are in danger.

The Sawtooth Avalanche Center also has issued a backcountry avalanche warning through 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in the mountains around Ketchum, Hailey, Stanley, and Fairfield.

The county is also on a flood watch with about a half-inch of rain expected to occur in Hailey today. Nearly an inch is expected to occur in Stanley. A flood watch means there’s a potential for flooding.

Minor flooding in low-lying areas near Silver Creek continues.

Flooding has closed roads near New Meadows, which saw more than an inch of rain on Monday.
