It may be called Wake up Hailey. But it’s Ketchum where you’re being asked to wake up on Tuesday.
The Chamber is holding its monthly Wake Up get-together from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, at the new Hailey Coffee Company at 611 Sun Valley Road.
(Of course, given that the coffee shop bears the name Hailey, maybe Wake Up Hailey is still appropriate!).
Light refreshments will be served, as participants network and learn about upcoming events in the community.
Mountain Humane’s Brooke Bonner told all-comers at the last Chamber BAH held recently at Mountain Humane that 700 people had toured the animal welfare campus since it opened in mid-February. And the center is offering its first book club with Jenny Emery Davidson.
Alysha Oclassen of Pure Body Bliss will offer regular sessions of yoga in Penny’s Barn—the first two sessions being from 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, and noon to 1 p.m. Friday, April 5. ($20 for drop-ins or $160 for a 10-class punch card.)
Jen Barth will lead the new Cat Cozy Club in knitting cat cozies from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, over coffee in the Cat Café.
And the new Humane Book Club will read “The Art of Dancing in Rain” by Garth Stein over coffee and tea at its next meeting from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 23. Rotating facilitators like Community Library Executive Director Jenny Emery Davidson, will take turns leading the monthly discussions revolving around books featuring animals.
Meanwhile, Cotton Whitesell and Dawson Torres demonstrated the robot that they built and will take to the VEX World Robotics Championships in Louisville, Ky. Later this month.
They will be joined by a second team—a Wood River High School team comprised of Asher Holden, Ethan Gray, Otto Olson and Tate Pearce--that also qualified at the Idaho State championships.
Idaho gets four qualifiers each year. Over the past four years, eight of 16 slots has been filled by teams from Blaine County School District, said engineering teacher Kevin Lupton.
The Blaine County Bots kids are selling raffle tickets for such prizes as a bicycle donated by Power House restaurant and a fly-fishing reel from Waterworks-Lamson.
They also have a fundraising page at www.gofundme/wood-river-bc.bots-ms-and-hs-teams to help finance the trip, which they estimate will cost about $1,500 per student.
