This year’s Janss Pro-Am Classic racers will not only get to drive themselves through race gates down the Slopes of Baldy but they and other supporters will get to take a drive in the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, the company’s new SUV, on a scenic drive past the Boulder Mountains north of Ketchum.
Rolls-Royce Motor Car will be the title sponsor of the 22nd annual fundraiser for the Sun Valley Ski Education. The event, dubbed as “the greatest party on snow,” encompasses three days of fun Thursday through Saturday, March 28-30, at Sun Valley Resort.
It will include a dual giant slalom for teams of six on Lower Warm Springs in handicapped races that allow everyone—no matter their ability—to participate. Teams will also vie for the Best Costume Award based on this year’s theme, “The Foolish Games We Play.”
There also will be a cocktail party at Michel’s Christiania and a gala dinner, dancing and live music at the Sun Valley Inn. Two days of breakfasts and lunches will be included, along with an event-ending barbecue.
Warfield Distillery & Brewery will provide libations throughout the weekend at the Headquarters Tent and Gala Dinner.
The event raises fund for nearly 700 youngsters involved in Sun Valley Ski Education programs ranging from alpine skiing and snowboarding to Nordic skiing.
Athlete tuition covers about 60 percent of the true cost of programming and funds raised helps keep the program accessible. Funds are used for such things as financial aid for tuition and travel, upkeep of facilities at the SVSEF Air Barn at the Sun Valley Community School, Lake Creek, Rotarun Ski Area and the Engl Training Center at Warm Springs. It also goes towards equipment and continuing coach education.
Martin Fritsches, president and CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Americas, says it’s an honor to support the event: “We can make a difference joining the power of our patrons and the power of the Rolls-Royce brand, and here in the mountains nothing shows that brand better than Cullinan.”
