What’s the best store in Idaho?
That would be Atkinsons’ Market, with three stores in the Wood River Valley.
The store, which even carries vegemite for the Aussies who live in Sun Valley, got the nod by “Delish” in a story listing the best supermarkets in every state.
“Regulars call this spot high-priced but worth it: It’s got all the niche products (and Idaho-made ones!) that you can’t find anywhere else,” wrote Sarah Weinberg.
DeKalb Farmers Market with hard-to-find products from around the world topped the list in Atlanta, Ga.
In Connecticut head to Stew Leonard’s, where Martha Stewart has shopped and which has been called the Disneyland of dairy stores for its cookie dough-bottomed ice cream cups and petting zoos.
California, of course, prides itself on Trader Joe’s; Colorado, King Soopers; Florida, Publix; Nevada, Raley’s; New Jersey, Wegman’s, and Tennessee, Piggly Wiggly.
If you’re headed to Utah, look for The Store in Holladay. It’s called that because it’s got all the essentials you could ever want.
Wyoming’s best is Albertson’s, which was founded in Boise.
New York’s best is Sahadi’s, a Middle Eastern market where pickled veggies are sold by weight and the deli serves za’atar pita.
And Maine boasts Hannaford, which opened as a produce market in 1883. Imagine! That’s 236 years worth of groceries!
