The annual Sawtooth Salmon Festival will kick off this year with a presentation on “Idaho’s Wild and Scenic Rivers: 50 Years and Counting.”
Kevin Lewis, the executive director of Idaho Rivers United, will offer the free presentation at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at the Stanley Museum as part of the local Forum and Lecture Series organized by the Sawtooth Interpretive and Historical Association.
The Sawtooth Salmon Festival, organized to celebrate the return of salmon to their spawning grounds near Stanley from the Pacific Ocean, will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25 at the Stanley Museum.
There will be food for sale. Edward Cain will play live music from 1 to 3 p.m. and Bread & Circus will perform from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Free salmon spawning tours will be held at 11 a.m. and 1, 3 and 5 p.m.
Later in September SIHA will present a photography workshop, “Autumn Photography in the Sawtooths.” The workshop will be taught Sept. 28-30 by Boise photographer Glenn Oakley and will include lodging at Beckwith’s Lodge in Stanley with breakfast and dinner included.
