Victoria Vox, an award-winning singer, songwriter and ukulele player from Costa Mesa, Calif., will perform a special Fourth of July Concert in Ketchum.
One of the leading songwriters on the ukulele scene, Vox will perform from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, at the Ketchum Town Square. Local singer Kiana Chapman will lead off the free concert.
Vox has opened for Jackson Browne, Tom Chapin and Leo Kottke, and she’s appeared on the Jay Leno Show. She performs mostly as a one-woman band, incorporating a loop pedal and bass effect on her ukulele and augmenting all with her mouth-trumpet or what some call beat boxing.
She recently released a new album, called “Colorful Heart.”
Wednesday’s concert will follow on the heels of Ketch’em Alive’s free Tuesday evening concert. This week’s performer: the Irish rock band Swagger, a Salt Lake City group that serves up high-energy music that’s great for dancing.
Steph Sloan, a Wood River High School student who went on to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, will open.
Picnics are welcome for the 7 to 9 p.m. concert at Ketchum’s Forest Service Park, First and Washington streets. There also will be food available from vendors on the street.
