Tara Westover is coming to Ketchum’s Community Library to reflect on her bestselling memoir “Educated.”
The event will be open to the public, but registration is required.
Westover, whose book has been the talk of summer BBQs in the Wood River Valley during the past couple weeks, will discuss her book at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, in the library’s newly remodeled and enlarged lecture hall.
The lecture hall is scheduled to reopen in mid-July.
The book details her leap from an isolated survivalist childhood in northern Idaho to Harvard and Cambridge.
Westover was the youngest of seven in a survivalist family, whose Mormon patriarch supported his family with a scrap metal yard. Her mother added to the family income with her herbal remedies.
She never set foot in a classroom until she was 17 due to her father’s politically inspired paranoia. Still, she went on to earn a PhD from Cambridge University.
