Grab a latte and head to the polls.
The 2018 primary election has a plethora of choices designed to winnow the field of gubernatorial candidates and even county commissioner candidates.
Voting will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters must be able to produce photo identification, such as a driver’s license, U.S. passport or federal ID card, student ID card, concealed weapons license and tribal photo identification card.
Only those who are registered with the Republican Party will be allowed to vote in the Republican primary. The Democratic Party allows any registered voters to vote in its primary, but registered Republicans wishing to do so must ask for the Democratic ballot.
Seven gubernatorial candidates are running on the Republican ticket: Tommy Ahlquist, Harley Delano Brown, Dalton Ben Cannady, Raul Labrador, Brad Little, Lisa Marie and Steve Pankey.
Five Republicans are running for the lieutenant governor nomination: Marv Hagedorn, Janice McGeachin, Bob Nonini, Kelley Packer and Steve Yates.
Former legislator Paulette Jordan, Boise businessman A.J. Balukoff and attorney/farmer Peter Dill are vying for the Democratic nomination for governor. Kristin Collum and Jim Fabe are vying for lieutenant governor nomination.
Olympic gold medalist Dick Fosbury is challenging incumbent Larry Schoen for the position of Blaine County commissioner.
Kye Kunz and Jim Williams are running for county assessor.
North Blaine County and Ketchum residents may vote at Hemingway Elementary School in Ketchum; Sun Valley residents at Sun Valley City Hall in Sun Valley; Hailey and Deer Creek residents at the Community Campus in Hailey, and Bellevue and Poverty Flat residents at Bellevue Elementary School in Bellevue.
Residents of Gannett and Picabo should vote at the Silver Creek Convenience Store in Picabo and Carey residents at Carey City Hall.
