Sun Valley Ballet, a nonprofit dance school, is offering a Summer Intensive workshop featuring guest teachers from Ballet Idaho and two Kids Camps this summer.
The Summer Intensive, timed to dovetail with the Ballet Sun Valley Festival in the Sun Valley Pavilion, will be held July 16 through 20.
Dancers can avail themselves of an entire week of lessons or select days.
The classes will include ballet, classical repertoire, jazz, modern, pointe, variations and improv. There also will be a choreographic workshop, yoga and stretch classes and sessions on nutrition and injury prevention.
Teachers are Ballet Idaho principal dancers Adrienne Kerr and Elizabeth Keller and Nathan Powell, a Ballet Idaho dancer and choreographer.
Classes will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with an hour-long break for lunch.
Classes cost $325 for the entire week, or $275 for those springing for the Early Bird special, payable by May 20. An entire day costs $65. And single classes cost $15. A five-class punch card can be purchased for $65.
The Kids Camps will be held Aug. 6 through 10.
A camp for youngsters ages 3 through 6, pre-primary through Level 1, will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon. It will include ballet movement and technique, time for crafts and films and, of course, snacks.
A camp for those ages 7 through 10, Level 2 through Level 5, will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m. It will include an opportunity to learn choreography and jazz, as well as dance history, acting for dancers and the optimal things to do for dancer health.
The instructor is Lyn Presher Crandall.
Both camps cost $200 with a deposit of $50 required at the time of registration and the balance due by Aug. 1. Shave $50 off the cost of camp by signing up for the Early Bird special of $150 by June 20.
All classes will be held in the Sun Valley Ballet’s studio in the Meriwether Building in Hailey.
