Who would’ve guessed there were so many princesses in Sun Valley?
A couple hundred princesses turned out, tiaras on heads, this past week when Pixie Dust Parties threw a Princess Story Time at the Hailey Public Library.
Library staff, who had thought they might get 135 young Sleeping Beauties, were overwhelmed at the response.
Children, ushered in by Moms and Dads, crowded around as they listened to an inspiring story of a young princess. Then they made paper crowns and flower wands.
“It’s so fun to watch their eyes light up when they see the princesses in their midst,” said Sara Baldwin, who volunteers as a Friend of the Library.
Megan Mahoney, a former New York actress and singer, founded Pixie Dust Parties to offer Princess Tea Parties, Grand Balls and other kinds of parties fit for royalty. She said the library event was just the beginning of “some really big things to come.”
“Everyone had a wonderful time and it was truly magical to see so many kids in awe of their favorite fairytales come to life,” she said. “What struck me most was how patient and happy everyone was to be there. I thought for sure that waiting at the end of a 200-person line would stress some kids out, but they were all so enchanted by Cinderella and Belle it didn’t matter how long they waited I’m excited to keep sharing the magic that inspires me with the people of the valley.”
