“Jukebox Heroes, Songs You Know and Love” will be the theme of the 21st Janss Pro-Am Classic March 15 through 17.
Dubbed as “the greatest party on snow,” the Janss Pro-Am will feature a dual giant slalom for teams of six dressed in costume in keeping with the theme on Bald Mountain. It will also include a gala dinner, dancing and live music, hosted breakfast and lunch, awards barbecue and backyard bash.
A pro skier will head each team, along with a junior pro currently in the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation.
Prizes will be given to the overall champion, speed cup champ, best costume, most inspirational and best crash.
“The Janss Pro-Am celebrates the heritage of ski racing and snowsports in Sun Valley,” said Sam Adicoff, executive director of the SVSEF. “Not only is the event a ton of fun but it is a critical component of our annual fundraising efforts.”
Athlete tuition covers only about half of the true cost of programming. Funds raised by the Classic also include athlete financial aid for tuition and travel, continuing education for coaches, equipment and transportation.
The SVSEF has more than 600 young athletes in its alpine, snowboarding, freestyle, big mountain and Nordic programs. The SVSEF also offers a Learn to Ski program that engages youngsters who wouldn’t have had the financial means to learn to ski, otherwise.
