A march celebrating the anniversary of last year’s Women’s March will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Ketchum Town Square.
The event, organized by The Advocates and Indivisible, will include music and speakers. Among them, Dist. 26 Sen. Michelle Stennett who will talk about the importance of the vote.
Marchers are encouraged to create signs expressing themes of importance.
“This year’s march is focused on power at the polls. If you don’t like the way things are, get out and vote,” said Darrel Harris, educational consultant for The Advocates. “It’s not about being Republican or being Democratic. It’s about using your vote to create change.”
The unifying message of the Women’s March is that women—and men--are powerful when they gather together, share space and lift each other up, Harris added.
“Actually, it’s a people’s march. It’s mean for everyone to be involved in the fight for social justice and equity,” she added.

MARCH IN BOISE ON SUNDAY
Another Women’s March Anniversary Rally will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at the Idaho Statehouse in Boise.
Among the speakers will be newly elected Boise City council member Lisa Sanchez; Fanisee Bias, a youth activist with the Idaho Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence, and former Idaho State senator and representative Nicole LeFavour.
The march is designed to call attention to the needs that exist for affordable health care, communities free of violence and the freedom to live without fear of deportation, said leader Cecile Richards.
