The Sun Valley Center for the Arts will present “Carole King—Tapestry: Live at Hyde Park” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at the Magic Lantern Cinemas in Ketchum.

The film—part of the Center’s 2017-18 Film Series—celebrates the 45th anniversary of King’s career-defining album “Tapestry.” More than 65,000 fans attended the outdoor concert in London’s Hyde Park in 2016.

King, who makes her home in Sun Valley, was marking her first British concert since 1989. It was her first-ever performance of the entire “Tapestry” album in sequence.

Guest performers included her daughter Louise Goffin, who joins her mother on “Where You Lead.” The two re-recorded that as the theme song to the TV series “Gilmore Girls.”

Proceeds from Thursday’s screening will support The Center’s Professional Artist Residency Program. The program, which costs $170,000 a year, brings visiting musicians and artists into local classrooms to work with 2,000 students and teacher at no charge to the schools.

Carole King’s team requested that the net proceeds from the screening go towards supporting a program for kids in the community, said Kristine Bretall, director of Performing Arts for The Center.

“This film gives us the chance to be there onstage, to see Carole’s hands on the keys….it’s an up-close perspective that no seat would have provided,” she added.

Tickets are $10 for Center members and $12 for nonmembers, available at www.sunvalleycenter.org or by calling 208-726-9491. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door.
