The Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation will offer a free presentation, “Parenting Athletes,” from 5:45 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Distance Learning Lab at Wood River High School in Hailey.

The presentation will feature Dr. Wade Gilbert, an internationally renowned coaching scientist in the Department of Kinesiology at California State University in Fresno.

He will explore ways to support, encourage and maintain a rewarding relationship with child athletes during their sports journey.

Prior to becoming a professor in human kinetics at California State University, Gilbert taught and studied coaching at the University of Ottawa in Canada, UCLA and Fresno State. He has conducted applied research and workshops with coaches and sports organizations around the world in a variety of sports and competitive levels for 25 years.

He’s worked with the U.S. Olympic Committee, the Coaching Association of Canada, NHL, Cricket Australia and New Zealand Rugby. He is also editor-in-chief of the “International Sport Coaching Journal” and recently released the book “Coaching Better Every Season.”
