Wednesday’s rooting tooting snowstorm arrived just in time for the start of the ski movie season.
And Sturtevants in Ketchum will kick it off in rollicking fashion with its Winter Kick off Party on Saturday, Oct. 7.
Sturtevants will transform its parking lot into an outdoor movie theater at 7:30 p.m. to screen “Numinous,” a big mountain ski movie filmed in British Columbia.
Promoters are billing the film, which stars big mountain skier Kye Petersen and fellow snow sliders, as “one of the most beautiful backcountry ski movies of all time.”
The film will be accompanied by a video from local photographer Cory Smith and slide shows from Tim Carter and Ray Gadd highlighting Sun Valley’s winter of 2016-17. The winter was an awesome one for powder hounds as 337 inches—or 28 feet—of snow fell on Bald Mountain.
Tickets for the Sturtevants show are $10 for those 20 and under and $15 for those 21 and older. The latter ticket includes free beer and wine.
Doors open at 6 p.m.
