Learn about the fascinating connections between native pollinating insects and native plants during a free talk tonight at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden south of Ketchum.
Ross Winton, an entomologist and regional wildlife biologist with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, will offer a presentation at 6 p.m.
Winton will discuss species that are unique to Central Idaho that are found nowhere else in the world and that have unique relationships with the native plants of the Sun Valley area.
Participants will get a chance to explore the garden on foot while learning to identify native bumble bees and solitary bees. They might even see a monarch butterfly, said Kristin Fletcher, the garden’s education director.
