A fluvial morphologist will weigh in on the geomorphology of the Big Wood River as the Wood River Land Trust and City of Hailey prepare to create a plan for Hailey that will address flooding, as well as other needs along the river.
Ryan Colyer, primary author of the Big Wood Watershed Assessment Study, will present recommendations for restoration and floodplain management of the river through Hailey Greenway during a presentation at 5:45 pm. Monday, Aug. 7, before the Hailey City Council at Hailey City Hall.
He will make a community presentation on the Hailey Greenway from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Minnie Moore Room of the Community Campus in Hailey.
The presentation is being sponsored by the Wood River Land Trust, which is teaming up with the City of Hailey to create a Master Plan for the Hailey Greenway.
The greenway comprises 350 acres along 1.5 miles of the Big Wood River from Lions Park to Colorado Gulch.
The Lane Trust and city are soliciting ideas from the public for land uses and wildlife habitat, aquatic habitat, stream restoration, flood plain functionality and recreational and education opportunities in the area.
The two will host an open working session to guide current and future development and restoration from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8 at Hailey City Hall. Email comments are being accepted at haileygreenway@harmonydesigninc.com.
