The Chamber of the Wood River Valley is throwing a new party—the 5B Father’s Day Bash—just for the fun of it.

The event will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 17, in the street between Sun Valley Brewery and Christopher & Co. in Hailey.  And it will feature 5Bs—Bones, Brews, Blues, Bumpers and Bikes.

“We’ll be serving brews from Sun Valley Brewery, Power House and Sawtooth Brewery. We’ll have a Friday evening performance by Jeff Crosby & the Refugees at the Sun Valley Brewery, followed by another blues band Saturday afternoon,” said Jeff Bacon director of The Chamber.

One of the B’s stands for BBQ, with Hailey firefighters cooking up barbecue. There also will be ribs from Smoky Bones, wings from Wise Guy and eats from KB’s and the Wood River Sustainability Center.

The bumpers stand for the classic cars, street cars and brand new Porsches that will be paraded out by Sun Valley Auto Club, Silver Creek Ford, Goode Motors and Lyle Pearson. And the bikes will include classic and contemporary motorcycles, ATVs, and quads provided by Woodside Motorsports and Snake Harley Davidson.

“Of course we couldn’t stop at five Bs. There’ll be a beard contest, and Billy Olson and Jennifer Biondi will be among those trotting out classic bikes,” Bacon added.

Hailey Fire Chief Craig Aberbach and his fellow firehouse cooks can’t wait to get out and cook up some barbecue after six weeks of flood duty.

“I’ve already picked up my secret ingredients,” he said. “I just enjoy being outside, meeting people and cooking.”

Hailey firefighters have hosted a chili cook-off in June for the past couple years but elected to push it back to fall when the weather cools for the 5B Bash. Firefighters and the Hailey Fireworks Fund will be the beneficiaries of proceeds from the 5B event.

“We’ll use whatever money we make for specialized training,” Aberbach said. “We’re getting newer bigger buildings in Hailey and, with that, we need more know-how.”

The Chamber is also raffling off a Motoped worth $3,600 to raise money for the Fourth of July fireworks display. Tickets are $10 per ticket or six for $50, available at Jane’s Artifacts, Hailey Coffee Company, Christopher & Co., Sun Valley Auto Club and other Hailey businesses.

The drawing will be held at 5 p.m. during the 5B Brews. But the winner need not be present.
