STORY AND PHOTO BY KAREN BOSSICK

Get your Jerry Garcia fix on Tuesday when Johnny Valenzuela and friends present their popular Grateful Dead tribute.

The Grateful Dead Tribute will kick off the 17th season of Ketch’em Alive concerts from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, at Ketchum’s Forest Service Park.

The concert series venue will be expanded this year to include Washington Avenue and the backside deck of the new Limelight Hotel.

And multiple food and drink vendors from various restaurants will set up on the street, eliminating the need to bring your own picnic.

This year’s concerts will feature a wide range of musical vibes, including rock, country and world beat, said organizer Will Caldwell. And each will offer opportunities for dancing.

The schedule:

June 13—Grateful Dead Tribute

June 20—World’s Finest Eclectic Ska-grass

June 27—The Heaters, playing dance covers from the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s

July 4—Tylor Bushman and the Train Robbers, playing country rock

July 11—Gipsy Moon, a four-piece folk band from Nederland, Colo., playing Rocky Mountain folk music, retro Slavic tunes, jazz improv and gypsy rhythms

July 18—Trevor Green, who weaves a unique array of haunting mystical sounds and foot-stomping grooves on five guitars, three didgeridoos and an array of percussion instruments

July 25—Yak Attack with organic electronic music

Aug. 1—The Famous Undercover, a high energy party band from Beaverton, Ore., that covers top 40’s hits over the past four decades.

Aug. 8—Pixie and the Party Grass Boys, a group of Wasatch Mountain ski bums that sing songs from Michael Jackson, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Aretha Franklin and Lady Gaga, as well as their own originals.

Funding for Ketch’em Alive comes from its $100 fan club, as well as such businesses as Atkinsons’ Markets, DL Evans Bank, Barry Peterson Jewelers, The Limelight Hotel, My Sun Valley Home, Hailey Orthopedics, The Pioneer Saloon and the Springcreek Foundation.

JAZZ COMING:

Jazz in the Park kicks off at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 18, at Ketchum’s Rotary Park with Avenue B, a vocal instrumental trio from Boise.
