The Chamber unveiled its second annual business directory and visitor guide. And the cover features a chairlift on Baldy, reflecting the Chamber’s expanded mission to cover the valley.
The cover shot was taken by Flavin Grumazescu, who came here to work for Sun Valley Resort.
Flavin said he took the shot last spring as the sun was rising over the Pioneer Mountains to the east.
“I love it here--the skiing the hiking. All the things to do,” he said.
Dirk Zondag, a local recruiter, placed second with a shot of someone paddling Silver Creek on New Year’s Day.
“It was one of the coldest mornings of the year!” he said.
The Chamber unveiled its new directory at the ever-popular Business After Hours (BAH) hosted by Mountain West Bank in Hailey and Zou 75.
Chamber Director Jeff Bacon said that the guide is being placed in visitor’s centers in Boise, Twin Falls, Driggs, Jackson Wyo., and on the Oregon coast.
The new site, www.discoverwrv.com, provides event and tourist information.
The Chamber and local businesses will trot out a new 5B Father’s Day Bash from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 17. It will feature Bones BBQ served up by Hailey firefighters, local craft brews, blues music, bumpers (as in classic cars), and bikes (as in snazzy motorcycles).
A fundraiser for the Hailey Fireworks Fund and Fire Department, it’s on the same day as the Ketchum/Sun Valley Rotary Club’s Brewfest in Ketchum Town Square, Bacon noted.
“So you can start off in Hailey and move up to Ketchum in the evening.”
Chamber Director Jeff Bacon noted that the Wood River Land Trust will be back with its third annual Riverfest on July Fourth, provided Draper Preserve has dried out from flooding by then. It will feature a beer garden, kid’s carnival and kid’s casting clinic, as well as free ice cream from Toni’s and music by Up a Creek and the Rebecca Scott Band.
There will be a Bloody Mary Challenge among bars and restaurants over the Fourth of July holiday.
“The fireworks fund needs some loving,” Bacon said. “We receive no tax dollars to put on the show so we need donations.”
Mountain West Bank donated $250 on the spot.
And the Chamber is raffling off a motoped worth $3,600 to help raise funds. The motoped was purchased by Chris Roebuck of Christopher & Co. jewelers and Dave Stone of Sun Valley Auto Club so all the money from the purchase of raffle tickets will go to the fireworks fund.
Tickets are $10 per ticket or six for $50, available at The Chamber, 781 S. Main St. in Hailey. They’re also available at Jane’s Artifacts, Hailey Coffee Company, Giddy-Up Coffee, Christopher & Co., Sawtooth Brewery, Sun Valley Auto Club, Washington Federal in Hailey, Idaho Lumber, Wood River Sustainability Center, Black Owl Coffee, DiVine Food & Wine, Sun Valley Brewery, Zions Bank in Hailey, Les Schwab tires, Copy & Print and Baldy Sports.
Volunteers are also needed to help the Chamber prepare for the parade.
“Even if you have just an hour, we’ve got something you can do,” he said.
Bacon added that Chamber membership is growing. It’s now at 356 members.
And Kimberly Honeycutt Shurtleff, who works for State Farm Insurance, and her band of ambassadors are ready and waiting to meet with new and old Chamber members to acquaint them with what’s available to them.
