St. Luke’s Nurse Honored for Empathy and Know How

Scott Kelly, administrative supervisor for Medical/Surgical, Mother/Baby and the Emergency Department, has been awarded the 2024 Carl A. Gray Memorial Award for nursing excellence.

The honorree was nominated by hospital staff for excellence in nursing practice.

Kelly’s peers said that he is a humble and dedicated leader, whom they can trust to kow, research and provide the right answers for protocol and policy questions. He also provides kind, calm and excellent care for patients while being ready to jump in when his care team needs him.

“Even though Scott is now an administrative supervisor, his nursing skills are utilized everyday as he steps in and helps when the emergency department is busy. This makes a HUGE difference!” said one of his co-workers.

St. Luke’s nurses’ commitment to ensuring the well-being of every patient is a testament to their incredible professionalism and humanity,” said Megan Tanous, St. luke’s Wood River Foundation chief development officer.

“So many grateful patients have shared stories of excellent care, and they always want to acknowledge the superb nurses in Wood River,” she added.

The Carl A. Gray Memorial Award was established by the Harvey Gray Family to honor a family member who was an avid Sun Valley Ski Club member.

Awards of distinction were also given in specific areas of the St. Luke’s core values.  The honorees included Annie Leady, BSN, RN, CPAN – Surgical Services, who was recognized for Integrity; Brandy Herold, RN, ASN - Family Medicine, for Compassion; Jasmine Schofield, RN - Mother/Baby Unit, for Accountability; and Janet Barton, RN, BSN – Mother/Baby Unit, for Respect.
