Disgruntled Wood River Valley resident Justin Pisteoff has had it with the long wait to get packages in the valley.
So, he’s taking matters into his own hands. and launching a service of his own to address what he calls “Post Office Traumatic Stress Disorder” (POTSD).
“I buy quite a bit of stuff online and when I get to the shipping address page I just panic,” he said at his makeshift office in a back booth at Grumpy’s.
“Are they shipping to me via UPS/FedEx or USPS? What do I put as my address? If I put my PO box, UPS will reject it. If I put my physical address, the U.S. Postal Service will reject it. And now UPS is delivering small packages to the Post Office and the Post Office is returning them to the sender because the address is missing the Post Office box, which UPS/Fed Ex don’t deliver to!”
Introducing the Pisteoff Box:
Pisteoff said he has reached a deal with the Ketchum Post Office, UPS, FedEx and the Simplot Foundation to have all inbound packages that would ordinarily be sent to the Post Office diverted to the corner of the Simplot lot across from the post office. There they will be sorted alphabetically by a group of volunteers and laid out for collection.
Those wishing to have their packages sent to the lot need simply to include the words “PO Box Delivery” (short for PisteOff Box) somewhere on the package.
“I believe this is the best hybrid solution to shipping stress,” said Pisteoff.
Pisteoff is now working on a mail service solution.
