New Year’s Eve Celebrations Include Skiing, Fireworks, Caviar and Mexican Buffet

Night skiing and fireworks on Dollar Mountain lead a litany of ways to ring in the New Year in the Wood River Valley.

Sun Valley is offering night skiing and music on Dollar Mountain from 5 to 9 p.m. with lift tickets costing $50 for adults and $35 for children.

Fireworks will conclude the evening, exploding overhead at 9 p.m. sharp. Viewers are asked not to view fireworks from Dollar Mountain unless they have a ticket for night skiing. Viewing options include various vantage points in Sun Valley Village and the Lodge Terrace, as well as the Horseman Center parking lot and White Clouds hill.

  • Sun Valley is also offering apres music at River Run Lodge from 2 to 5 p.m. today and New Year’s Eve. Alan Pennay will tickle the ivories at the Duchin Lounge in the Sun Valley Lodge from 4 to 7 p.m., followed by Paul Gregory until 9 p.m. Brooks, Brad and Travis will take over from 9 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. And Larry Harshbarger will take on the piano at The Ram from 5 to 9 p.m.
  • OCHI Gallery in Ketchum is hosting an intimate New Year’s Eve gathering benefitting the Sun Valley Museum of Art from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Cost is $350 per person, $300 of which is tax deductible. There’ll be a group exhibition tour featuring Lani Trock, champagne, caviar and canapes, a New Year’s Eve Wine Pull and music from Rozzi. For tickets, call 208-726-9491.
  • Comedian Eddie Ifft will perform two New Year’s Eve performances at 4 and 8 p.m. at The Argyros in Ketchum. Go to for more tickets.
  • D N8 will toast the New Year’s Eve Celebration from 9 p.m. to 1:15 La Cab Sports Bar, 107 S. Main St. in Hailey. $5 at the door. 21 and older.
  • Sun Valley Wine Company is hosting a champagne party with passed appetizers and, party favors and festive swag at 360 Leadville Ave. in Ketchum from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
  • DJ DOT, Luke Ross and Jay Robb & Friends are providing music from 8 p.m. until 2 a.m. for a New Year’s Eve dance at Whiskeys on Main Street Ketchum. Tickets are $275 and include a champagne toast and Mexican food.
