Esta Hornstein, who had a popular restaurant in Ketchum for many years, is back for her second annual Apres with Esta at the Sun Valley Culinary Institute.
Hornstein will offer her homemade cooking from 4 to 7 p.m. today—Tuesday, Dec. 27--at the Institute.
For starters there’s Grandma Esther’s matzo ball soup and Reuben sandwiches with Esta’s own homemade corned beef on rye bread with Russian dressing. In addition, Hornstein will serve up her noodle kugel, chopped liver and much more.
Hornstein brought a big city deli to a small mountain town 35 years ago when she opened a restaurant next to the nexStage Theatre and, later, in the 511 Building.
She plied locals with her potato latkes and chocolate cake with chocolate cream cheese buttercream icing. Now, we’re told she even serves up a Reuben sandwich featuring turkey!
